Feeling Alone in Seattle

Seattle has had the coldest winter in over thirty years. If you recently moved here, you may experience what feels like a freeze no matter what the temperature.

My first summer here I lived in a courtyard apartment with many people my age. We shared a dock on Lake Washington. I moved from Houston, where, when I wasn’t at work, I was at the pool, socializing or playing volleyball. In Seattle I took a lot of ferry rides by myself. The contrast in my social life was startling.

Later I moved to Alki Beach where an older man at a party asked me,”Before you moved to West Seattle, had you ever been here before?”

“Well no.”

“That’s because you were never invited.”

I knew a young expat who had lived all over the world. His social skills were impressive. He shared  that Seattle was the only city he experienced organizing 20 people for drinks or dinner at a cool spot, only to have half cancel at the last minute.

I could go on.

I just want to say, that if you are new here, and you are wondering if you have maybe made a mistake, you have my empathy. This is a great city but not as immediately as friendly as other places.

Feeling isolated can lead to bad decisions with relationships, eating, and even depression.

That’s where I can help you. Come in for a session and we will do some EFT to relieve some of your frustration, and maybe make a hypnosis recording created just for you.

Our collaboration will help you create the brain chemicals for joy and connection. You can have that, even in Seattle.
